About The Position

Individual will support contracted work in the shipyard and at Naval Submarine Base New London. The individual will be assigned to processing Dosimetry in accordance with NAVSEA approved procedures and making inputs into the Automated Radiological Controls Management Information System (ARCMIS) as well as other data processing software. Additional duties will include preparing radiation exposure reports for personnel, performing internal monitoring, performing area and environmental monitoring postings, and interacting with the office’s customer base (both internal and external). Candidate must be able to support both inside office environment as well as work in the field and aboard Submarines. Individual must qualify as a dosimetry processor and radiation worker per the requirements of NAVSEA 389-0288 and the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program Corporate Dosimetry Standard Operating Procedures

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Strong customer service and teaming skills
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Excel and Word
  • Individual must pass a screening exam with a passing grade of 75 or better and a department interview
  • Applicant must have strong communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with shipyard personnel and regulatory agencies.
  • The selected candidate must be available to work all shifts as needed
  • Applicants must apply for a DOD Security Clearance as a condition of employment.
  • They will be required to obtain and maintain a final secret clearance to remain in this position.

Nice To Haves

  • An associate’s degree or higher with emphasis on mathematics and sciences
  • Previous dosimetry experience and a familiarity with occupational radiation exposure tracking
  • Experience with database applications
