About The Position

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of one-year Job Corps or related program experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate of Arts Degree from an accredited school preferred.
  • A valid in-State Driver’s License preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide students in the dormitory with a safe, clean, and structured living environment that fosters student retention, satisfaction, achievement, and success.
  • Oversee the daily management of the dorm area and uses proper judgment and discretion to resolve student and staff issues and concerns.
  • Provide individualized case management in conjunction with counseling staff to maintain student enrollment and success in the program.
  • Supervise and manage residential staff.
  • Coordinate staff coverage to ensure student areas are supervised, including maintaining an active list of substitute Residential Advisors.
  • Interview, recommend for hire, discipline, recommend for termination, and evaluate performance of Residential Department staff.
  • Ensure all staff adhere to rest and meal break requirements.
  • Provide required/supplemental training for new and current employees.
  • Employ sound time-management and delegation skills, holds staff accountable for producing quality work, and develops staff for career progression.
  • Motivate and empower staff, create a supportive work environment, recognize accomplishments, and address performance concerns proactively.
  • Responsible for overseeing the student dorm leadership program.
  • Provide comprehensive and individualized case management ensuring student progress, retention, and completion of the Job Corps program.
  • Establish supportive/mentoring relationships with students throughout their enrollment.
  • Active member on case management and success teams to ensure student success.
  • Provide high-quality supervision for students, takes swift and appropriate action, positively influences behavior, and holds students accountable.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of incident and shift reports.
  • Ensure the physical security of the dorm area and reports concerns to senior management.
  • Maintain adequate levels of inventory and proactively orders supplies.
  • Initiate work orders for repairs and follows up with maintenance to ensure completion.
  • Fill staff vacancies in a timely manner.
  • Exchange ideas and information clearly, both orally and in writing, and contributes meaningfully to team efforts.
  • Develop Center-beneficial linkages within the community for education, employment, Career Technical Training, and WBL.
  • Promote a positive image of the Center and Job Corps and establishes meaningful relationships with elected officials.
  • Mentor, monitor, and model the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.
  • Provide transportation as required.
  • Ensure programs and services for students are high-quality, effective, and continuously improved.
  • Identify problems, analyze causes, evaluate solutions, and ensures issues are corrected.
  • Work in partnership with staff from all departments to ensure effective supervision and student services.
  • Accept direction from the Center Director, Center Duty Officer, or Shift Manager, including temporary assignments in other departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
