About The Position

Under minimal supervision, this position's primary function encompasses a Doosan LYNX2100LSYB CNC Lathe to fabricate production parts. The Machinist will work with the CNC equipment, make sure their machines work at full capacity, are well-maintained and perform periodic checks on output. This position requires all aspects of production, including CNC programming, Set-Up & Operation, including any machine adjustments, as well as inspections.

Requirements

  • CNC Programming a must.
  • Effectively communicate and understand job instructions both verbally and written.
  • Problem solving skills to know why machines are not at peak performance, increase output and fix errors.
  • Attention to detail with precision equipment and product.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations.
  • Detailed oriented.
  • Record keeping techniques.
  • Machining techniques, including workpiece setup, tooling selection & material specific machine speeds and feeds.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • (5) years' experience in programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathe machines, specifically a Doosan LYNX2100LSYB.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds with assistance from handling equipment.
  • Required to stand, walk and reach with hands and arms.

Nice To Haves

  • CAD knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CNC Lathe programming, tooling set-ups, automatic bar feed set-up.
  • Will be responsible for a complete job specific set-up, troubleshoot issues and certify the machine/job is “ready to run” for production.
  • Understand and interpret existing CNC programs.
  • Recognizes, and properly uses inserts and tooling.
  • Understands and can perform tool wear offsets.
  • Responsible for recording any tool wear offset, tooling or geometry changes.
  • Consistently improve machine performance either through program manipulation, tooling selection, and/or reducing secondary operations, thus, reducing part cycle times.
  • Make and implement recommendations to attain the goal of “drop complete” part manufacturing.
  • Consistently strive to for machines to operate at a level to be left unattended, during shift as well as “lights out".
  • Communicate with Shift Working Leads, as well as Production Supervisor, to ensure all direct employees and resources are being fully utilized for following shift.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints.
  • Properly use dial calipers, indicators, all types of micrometers, including depth, blade, ID & OD.
  • Utilizes and abides all safety procedures.
  • Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations, and instructions.
  • Perform minor machine repairs, if necessary.
