About The Position

As a Donor Relations Specialist, you will secure food and product donations through relationship-building with food industry partners while coordinating closely with internal teams to ensure accurate inventory, reporting and logistics. You will play a key role in Retail Recovery, Food Purchasing and Emergency Response efforts, with frequent travel throughout the service area. Success in your first 6–12 months looks like developing a reliable donor network, increasing high-value donation opportunities, maintaining accurate sourcing data and contributing to consistent, efficient food availability for individuals and families we serve.

Requirements

  • Earning an associate’s degree or gaining at least two years of relevant experience in supply chain management, inventory, sourcing or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Working in supply chain management or a related field for at least one year.
  • Working in the food industry for at least one year.
  • Valid driver’s license with a driving record that meets organizational standards.
  • Proficiency in common office applications and database software such as Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
  • Ability to learn and adjust to new technologies.
  • Demonstrated negotiation, partnership and relationship management skills.
  • Proven written, verbal and in-person communication skills with the ability to adapt messaging to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to complete a background check, motor vehicle record review, drug screening and physical assessment as required
  • Commitment to advancing the mission of ending hunger.

Responsibilities

  • Build, manage and steward relationships with food donors, retail partners and community collaborators through written, verbal and in-person communication.
  • Identify, cultivate and secure new food and product donors to expand sourcing capacity.
  • Prioritize high-value opportunities and conduct outreach, including travel to new and existing partner locations.
  • Provide timely and meaningful updates to donors on the impact of their contributions.
  • Develop and share educational materials outlining donation guidelines, procedures and expectations.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure efficient and accurate intake of donated food and products.
  • Implement strategies that improve inventory efficiency, maximize usable donations and reduce food waste.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in the product acquisition system to support transparency and reporting.
  • Track donation volumes against sourcing goals and budget parameters.
  • Resolve operational challenges with internal teams and external partners while ensuring consistency across the donation network.
  • Prepare reports for leadership and external partners to communicate donation outcomes and program impact.
  • Maintain complete and compliant donor documentation to meet audit, legal and reporting requirements.
  • Evaluate and present donation data to inform planning, improve sourcing strategies and enhance donor engagement.
  • Represent the organization at community events to promote food donations and strategic partnerships.
  • Coordinate with external partners on initiatives that advance food sourcing and recovery goals.
  • Promote awareness of the organization’s mission through outreach, campaigns and volunteer engagement.
