About The Position

The Donor Relations Officer supports the planning and implementation of Beth Israel Lahey Health’s comprehensive stewardship and recognition program, with a primary focus on executing programmatic recognition initiatives and supporting the development and tracking of naming opportunities across the system. This role contributes to strengthening donor relationships by ensuring recognition efforts are thoughtful, accurate, timely, and aligned with institutional priorities. The Officer works collaboratively with philanthropy colleagues across BILH, including frontline fundraisers, donor relations leadership, and shared services partners such as Operations and Communications, to support stewardship objectives and ensure consistency in donor recognition practices. The Donor Relations Officer will: • Draft clear and compelling descriptions of naming and recognition opportunities in support of fundraising efforts, in alignment with institutional priorities and approved guidelines. • Assist with the coordination and execution of donor recognition initiatives, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and a positive donor experience. Track and maintain records of named spaces and programs, supporting transparent processes and effective collaboration with frontline teams.(hybrid)

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 2-5 years’ related work experience required.
  • Project management experience required.
  • Ability to travel, occasional evening and weekend work, and to adjust to other needs of the department.
  • Individual judgment and knowledge of fundraising strategy is essential.
  • Advanced skills with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access and other web-based applications.
  • May produce complex documents, perform analysis and maintain databases.
  • Ability to make decisions that are guided by general instructions and practices requiring some interpretation.
  • May make recommendations for solving problems of moderate complexity and importance.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of donor recognition and engagement strategies for major and principal donors, assisting fundraisers and External Relations in creating meaningful stewardship experiences.
  • Support a donor-centric recognition program, including promotional materials and naming opportunities, to enhance stewardship and fundraising efforts.
  • Assist in managing the donor recognition signage process, helping with design, fabrication, and installation, and coordinating donor approvals with facilities and hospital leadership.
  • Maintain a tracking system within our database to catalog donor signage, naming opportunities, and public recognition, ensuring accuracy and transparency for frontline teams.
  • Manage the preparation and tracking of leadership acknowledgments for selected gifts across all BILH hospitals, ensuring they are meaningful and timely.
  • Assist in managing endowment reporting by coordinating with Finance and Operations to ensure transparency and compliance with spending policies.
  • Create and support personalized stewardship initiatives, including outreach and gestures to celebrate and deepen donor engagement.
  • Support the development and maintenance of policies and processes that promote a strategic, donor-centered Donor Relations team, contributing to best practices for stewardship and engagement at all giving levels.
