The Department of Pathology is seeking a Donor Coordinator in Ankeny, Iowa. Will be responsible for working with medical examiners, tissue recovery specialists, pathologist’s assistants, and other Iowa Office of the State Medical Examiner (IOSME) employees to facilitate procurement of postmortem human brain samples. Assist with brain removals as directed by IOSME staff. Handles the time sensitive transportation of brains from the IOSME to the University of Iowa. Communicates with patients and donor families to answer questions about brain donation as needed and works closely with collaborators at the Iowa Donor Network. This position is 100% time in Ankeny, Iowa. The Department of Pathology is part of UI Health Care, a comprehensive health sciences center that serves Iowa and the region, as well as patients referred from the United States and overseas.
