About The Position

Answers all incoming telephone calls requesting or inquiring about The Salvation Army donation pick-up services; answers questions and takes orders for pick-up service in polite and professional manner. Completes and posts pick-up slips based on information obtained from callers. Types a master list prior to day pick-ups are scheduled; checks the master list at the end of each day to verify completion; totals number of pick-ups scheduled daily. Ensures that truck drivers have all paperwork needed for the day and that they are aware of any changes Answers all dispatch calls from drivers; responds to questions and provides instructions regarding needed pick-ups. Key Responsibilities: Schedules pick up appointments for the truck(s); records accurate and complete pickup tickets; ensures the timely and accurate distribution of tickets. Records and updates pickup information; ensures the accuracy and completeness of the same. Assists Truck Driver with addresses, location, and schedule times, rescheduling times, phone calls to donor, etc. Contacts donors if there is a problem with the scheduled pick-up and reschedules pick-ups if needed; responds to and attempts to resolve donor complaints. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Ability to operate a telephone and/or switchboard and two-way radio/cellular phone. Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions. Ability to sort documents alphabetically and numerically. Ability to perform routine mathematical computations. Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.   • Knowledge of geographic area serviced in order to schedule pick-ups efficiently
  • Knowledge of general office practices and procedures.
  • Ability to assist the public in a polite and professional manner.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional and effective working relationships with truck drivers.
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
