About The Position

CHASI's Domestic Violence Program offers a comprehensive suite of Domestic Violence and trauma services to survivors of Domestic Violence with enhanced focus on education and linkage to health & wellness through both individual and group counseling supportive services. CHASI works in collaboration with the Richmond County District Attorney's office to expand reach and capacity. The Domestic Violence & Trauma Services Coordinator will plan, organize, and lead structured counseling and care coordination activities for clients. This includes comprehensive clinical assessment, treatment planning and implementation, Safety planning and short-term group and individual trauma-informed counseling/educational services. The Domestic Violence & Trauma Services Coordinator will provide direct supervision to the Domestic Violence Community Specialist. The Domestic Violence and Trauma services are co-located at 26 Bay Street and the Staten Island Family Justice Center (126 Stuyvesant Place).

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work or mental health counseling required. LMSW, LMHC, or LCSW preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience providing counseling services to survivors of domestic violence or other relevant populations.
  • Experience utilizing trauma-informed care and harm reduction models.
  • Cultural competency and interest in health care equity, social justice, and public health.
  • Experience collaborating within a multi-disciplinary, diverse team, maintaining a healthy work environment that encourages equity, professionalism, respect, diversity, and continuous professional growth and improvement.
  • Ability to work independently and also be team player with shared responsibility and accountability; ability to contribute to a positive, productive, open, and supportive environment that motivates others to perform at their best.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including capability to listen and follow instructions; able to give, provide direction and follow up on tasks; high attention to detail and accuracy. Be highly organized and able to multitask.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision to Domestic Violence Community Specialist.
  • Conducts initial comprehensive psychosocial, safety planning, and risk assessments with clients.
  • Administers trauma-informed screening tools.
  • Oversees treatment planning and treatment plan execution.
  • Conducts individual and group supportive counseling sessions.
  • Provides strengths-based & trauma-related, short term counseling supportive services.
  • Coordinates services designed to integrate substance abuse treatment, mental health, and other recovery support services for all program participants.
  • Conduct regular, comprehensive client documentation reviews for quality and completeness.
  • Attend team and department meetings, trainings, and contractor-facilitated provider meetings.
  • Conduct trauma-informed support groups.
  • Perform all functions in alignment with CHASI's Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
