The Domestic Violence Shelter Manager is responsible for all aspects of shelter operations, victim services, and staff supervision to ensure the delivery of comprehensive, survivor-centered support. This management role leads the coordination of services including emergency shelter, housing assistance, and non-residential advocacy programs. The Domestic Violence Shelter ensures the safety and well-being of survivors by effectively leveraging community partnerships and resources to provide holistic, trauma-informed care

Requirements

  • Satisfactorily pass criminal history & reference checks.
  • Respect for all cultures, and ability to interact with diverse groups.
  • Experience in victim/survivor advocacy and crisis intervention/counseling preferred.
  • Knowledge of gender-based violence issues and their impact on individuals and families and experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of computers, internet searches, smartphone devices and other software packages.
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with staff, volunteers, community and national partners.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to domestic violence issues and trends preferred.
  • Knowledge of service area resources preferred.
  • Experience working in a DV shelter or transitional housing environment preferred.
  • Required experience working in a DV shelter or DV survivor service at least two years per WAC 388.61A.
  • Experience working with vendors and service providers.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills; ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Required to complete 20 hours of annual continuing education & 5 hours of supervisor training per WAC 388-61A.
  • Carrying a company provided cell phone to be available after normal business hours for emergency situations
  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Public Health, Psychology or other related field preferred.
  • A minimum of fifty hours of training on DV issues & advocacy within 3 years prior to date of hire.
  • Minimum two years' experience providing advocacy to victims of DV within a DV agency.
  • 2 years of staff supervision experience in a community-based organization preferred.

Nice To Haves
