About The Position

The Domestic Violence Prevention Coordinator plays a pivotal role in developing, implementing, and coordinating community based prevention programs aimed at reducing and ultimately ending domestic and intimate partner violence. This role centers on education, outreach, coalition-building, and promoting healthy relationships with a focus on youth and underserved communities. The Coordination will work closely with survivors, youth, community partners, and systems to build awareness, change harmful norms, and promote healing-centered, culturally responsive prevention strategies.

Requirements

  • Experience in prevention education, community organizing, youth development, or domestic violence advocacy.
  • Strong facilitation, public speaking, and curriculum development skills.
  • Deep understanding of the root causes of domestic violence, including structural racism, oppression and trauma.
  • Knowledge of coordinating community-wide initiatives.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including youth, immigrant communities, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and communities of color.
  • Ability to manage projects and program logistics.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving skills, experience in managing conflict, and ability to respond creatively to challenges.
  • Flexible schedule including occasional evenings and weekends for events.

Responsibilities

  • Design, coordinate, and implement evidence-based and community-informed domestic violence prevention programs.
  • Facilitate workshops, trainings, and presentations on topics such as healthy relationships, consent, gender equity, bystander intervention, power & control, and the impact of domestic violence on health.
  • Lead the development and adaptation of curriculum and materials for various populations (e.g. youth, parents, LGBTQI+, immigrant populations) and the health care sector.
  • Monitor program effectiveness, collect data, and support evaluation efforts to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Serve as a bridge between survivors and community based-services, including housing, legal, mental health, medical, and financial resources
  • Build and maintain relationships with schools, community centers, clinics, and faith-based organizations to deliver prevention education and resources
  • Plan and coordinate community awareness events such as: Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), Health Cares about Domestic Violence (HCADV), and Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM).
  • Develop culturally relevant outreach materials, social media content, and resource guides to engage target audiences.
  • Design, coordinate, and implement evidence-based and community-informed domestic violence prevention programs.
  • Facilitate workshops, trainings, and presentations on topics such as healthy relationships, consent, gender equity, bystander intervention, power & control, and the impact of domestic violence on health.
  • Provide domestic violence prevention training and technical assistance to health care providers, educators, service providers, and community stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with partner agencies, coalitions, and task forces focused on violence prevention, public health, and community safety.
  • Serve as a liaison to school districts, youth-serving organizations, and community leaders to ensure integrated prevention efforts that impact youth.
  • Represent the organization at community meetings, public forums, and regional or statewide prevention work groups.
  • Maintain accurate records of activities, outreach efforts, and participant data in accordance with funder and agency requirements.
  • Assist with grant reporting, program narratives, and success stories that highlight the impact of prevention efforts.
