About The Position

Role Summary: The Sr. Director, Data Domain Owner will own and lead the strategic direction, prioritization, and governance for one of DaVita’s five enterprise data domains: Provider. Domain Owners will be accountable for ensuring domain data provides substantial enterprise value (e.g., high-quality, accessible, compliant data that enables high-value Village use cases). The Domain Owner will coordinate closely with Data Stewards and Data Custodians across several ‘sub-domains’ (categories of data within the domain). These Data Stewards and Data Custodians will drive frontline execution (e.g., for data quality and accessibility) within a given sub-domain as part of a “two-in-a-box” model: The Data Steward will represent the “business user” perspective, while the Data Custodian will represent the “technical user” perspective. Domain Owners will help Data Stewards and Data Custodians prioritize their efforts, working closely with business leaders across DaVita to ensure alignment with Village-wide priorities. Domain Owners will also drive Domain Working Groups to coordinate activity across different sub-domains (e.g., aligning consistent data definitions across different areas of the business).

Requirements

  • 5+ years in data analysis or business intelligence
  • Expertise in how specific sub-domain data is analyzed or used within the Village today (e.g., for Patient Clinical sub domain: Expertise in the varied ways that DaVita analyzes and derives value from Provider data today or might in the future)
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
  • Familiarity with data cataloging tools and governance practices
  • Ability to translate business requirements into data specifications
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

Responsibilities

  • Set vision and priorities for data efforts within the domain
  • Ensure domain data efforts serve Village-wide priorities (e.g., improving clinical outcomes, driving census growth, and inflecting Teammate engagement and retention)
  • Support Data Stewards and Data Custodians as they resolve data quality issues and identify and build data products within their respective sub-domains (e.g., help to prioritize appropriate issues to resolve)
  • Coordinate to ensure alignment within the domain (e.g., across different sub-domains): Organize and run regular Domain Working Groups that drive accountability for sub-domain teams (Data Stewards and Data Custodians) and align across sub-domains as needed (e.g., data definitions)
  • Coordinate with other Domain Owners to ensure alignment across domains (e.g., limit any conflicting or overlapping efforts) – typically to take place in regular cross-domain Data Governance forums, organized by Village Data Governance lead.
  • Coordinate with Village leadership to ensure alignment with Village-wide priorities (e.g., align with business lane leadership on highest-value data issues to resolve, align with data management leadership to ensure appropriate, coordinated use of Data Custodian and other data management resources, etc.)
  • Coordinate with enterprise data product team to ensure alignment between domain objectives and enterprise data product efforts to provide curated reusable data assets linked to high-value use cases
  • When needed, escalate disagreements (e.g., on prioritization) to Data or Business leadership for resolution
  • Promote data product adoption with business users in governance forums
