About The Position

Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) is a federal-state vocational program dedicated to helping people with physical or mental disabilities be successful in employment. We are looking for qualified candidates to be recommended for the Area Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisor. Visit our website: Vocational Rehabilitation | Florida Department of Education (rehabworks.org) Professional Overview This position performs advanced supervisory and administrative work overseeing Vocational Rehabilitation Supervisors and supporting operations across an assigned geographic area. The role is responsible for leading, coaching, and developing supervisory staff; planning, directing, and evaluating service delivery; and ensuring alignment with program goals and workforce outcomes. The incumbent exercises delegated authority in personnel actions, including hiring, promotion, discipline, and performance management. This position requires regular travel across a 14-county region in Central Florida and may involve participation on local boards as assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership experience applying advanced knowledge of the evolving workforce and the needs of individuals with disabilities within advocacy and/or employment-related environments, including oversight of service delivery, workforce outcomes, and program effectiveness.
  • Bachelor's degree in the following fields: Counseling, Business, Psychology, Education, Public Safety, or Criminology and 4 years of professional experience.
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in relevant fields and 3 years of professional experience.

  • Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) credential or eligibility to obtain
  • Certified Public Manager (CPM) credential
  • Demonstrated experience leading supervisors and managing multi-level teams, including performance management and workforce planning
  • Strong ability to interpret and apply data (e.g., area performance metrics, workforce trends, program outcomes) to drive decision-making and improve regional performance
  • Experience overseeing operations across multiple units, locations, or programs

  • Experience in human resources, recruitment, and staff development at a supervisory or leadership level
  • Experience as an employer, small business owner/operator, or in self-employment, demonstrating knowledge of workforce expectations and business operations
  • Experience supporting or leading efforts within competitive integrated employment environments
