About The Position

This SULI project focuses on disentangling potential beyond-the-Standard-Model (BSM) signatures from uncertainties in parton distribution functions (PDFs), a central challenge in interpreting high-precision collider data. Adriana Baniecki will develop and apply systematic analysis tools --- drawing on modern statistical and machine-learning–inspired techniques --- to separate genuine new-physics effects from distortions induced by PDF modeling and fitting assumptions. The work aims to clarify which observed deviations in key observables can plausibly be attributed to BSM dynamics rather than to hadronic structure uncertainties. More broadly, the project contributes to building robust discovery strategies that remain reliable in the era of increasingly precise Standard Model predictions. Note that I have spoken directly to Adriana directly in person and she wishes to work on this project (this is in addition to the email communication noted below on 6 Feb 2026).
