PyGREET efficiently formulates and solves the linear system of product systems using a matrix-based approach. This architecture allows for the development of a system to pinpoint the processes that dominate environmental impacts, commonly referred to as hotspots. This module will focus on identifying the primary drivers of resource depletion within the PyGREET framework. Core Tasks Integration point identification: Identify stable integration points for accessing the technology matrix without modifying or disrupting the core calculation engine. Backend module development: Design and implement a dedicated postprocessing module for impact dominance analysis. Performance preservation: To avoid performance degradation, the module must remain decoupled from the main solver. On-demand execution: Implement lazy evaluation so dominance analyses are only executed when a user explicitly requests a detailed supply-chain deep dive. Functional testing & validation: Develop a comprehensive suite of functional tests to ensure the methodology correctly identifies hotspots. Real-world validation: Validate the dominance analysis logic using real-world test cases provided by Argonne analysts. Technical documentation: Produce documentation describing the module’s mathematical formulation and post-processed data structures.
