About The Position

The scope of the project is to design a beam tracker that will be placed in two locations upstream of HELIOS and will provide a known trajectory in 3D space of the beam entering the instrument. The new design will reference the existing ATLAS Beam Tracker with significant changes that will incorporate a conversion foil, an electrostatic mirror grid, and an MCP. The Project will involve working with scientists and the Mentor to develop the technical requirements, identification of the required off-the-shelf and custom components, design of the custom components, and creation of drawings of custom components and assemblies.

Requirements

  • The entirety of the appointment must be conducted within the United States.
  • Applicants must be: Currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate studies at an accredited institution. Graduated from an accredited institution within the past 3 months; or Actively enrolled in a graduate program at an accredited institution.
  • Must be 18 years or older at the time the appointment begins.
  • Must possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or Legal Permanent Resident at the time of application.
  • If accepting an offer, must pass a screening drug test.
