APS Upgrade enabled much faster scanning of variety of samples at 2-ID-E Microprobe. Currently only 2 samples can be loaded at once and therefore some experiments with higher acquisition rate require presence of the user or beamline scientist onsite to keep data collection efficient. Acquired robotic arm and sample docking station will simplify remote data collection and improve beamline efficiency. This project includes design of new sample environment chamber design with improved door closing system, integration of the robotic arm into the set up and training the robot to perform careful sample transfer in delicate environment. In addition, student will gain a great knowledge of X-ray data collection and processing with focus on X-ray fluorescence microscopy, tomography, ptychography and laminography. Vladimir Bondar has experiance with XRF data analysis and it is very beneficial for this project.
