About The Position
Philips will be continuing this work which he started last summer looking at how soil microbes associated with genetically divergent switchgrass cultivars use various carbon substrates. While last year he quantified carbon substrate use, this year he will be analyzing metagenomic sequencing data (16S) from both before and after the incubation period to determine which organisms are using which carbon substrates under the different switchgrass cultivars.
