About The Position

Troy Design and Manufacturing is a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company. At TDM, we use 21st Century manufacturing processes such as 3D design and printing, laser cutting, and automation for prototype and low volume manufacturing of components of current and future Ford vehicles. At our Chicago modification center facility, we do state of the art vehicle modifications for multiple police interceptor platforms. PRIMARY PURPOSE: Under direct supervision, provides CAD support in order to create / update 3D models and 2D drawings. Ensures the timely delivery of the department's deliverables. Participates in meetings involving customers and team members.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or higher education
  • A willingness to learn new CAD and related software as necessary
  • Moderate communication skills (verbal and written), strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic knowledge of entire suite of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares / updates 2D drawings of automotive systems and components according to requirements per activity / vehicle / sub-system.
  • Reviews and/or maintains design related project documentation and files
  • Supports other dept. team members in releasing and managing CAD data (3D, 2D) as well as Web Based files to/in a PLM system (Teamcenter) or data base.
  • Supports CAD Associate 1 and Dimensional Data Analyst in transfer of CAD data from/to customers, suppliers and service providers.
  • Supports CAD Associate 1 during all program timing phases (concept, build, dimensional layouts, measurement data evaluation, trouble-shooting, fixture design).
  • Supports CAD Associate 1 in customer meetings when needed
  • Attends team and vehicle program meetings (web-meetings / phone conferences).
  • Assist in the development of Department process efficiencies such as Tips and Techniques, work instructions and training materials.
  • Monitor deliverables and ensure timely and quality delivery.
