About The Position

Berry Construction Company , a leading General Contractor in the Southeast, is actively seeking a qualified Document Controller to join our Chattanooga office. The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for reviewing/analyzing/logging all construction documents for commercial construction projects, assisting in the writing of contract documents, and communicating with Owners/Architects/Engineers. They must be goal-oriented with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines. Experience/knowledge of construction is required. Reports to: Vice President of Pre-Construction

Requirements

  • 2-5+ years of Construction/Architect/Engineering experience preferred.
  • Able to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Able to manage competing demands, and meet established deadlines.
  • Computer skills - Should be comfortable accessing information and using programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, Box, Dropbox, AIA module).
  • Data entry - Should have some exposure to data entry processes and understand best practices.
  • Attention to detail - This role requires a high level of attention to detail to ensure that data is correctly entered and secured and that it's accessible by authorized personnel.
  • Communication skills - Must have effective verbal and written communication skills particularly when providing assistance to team members or preparing reports.
  • Time management - This role also requires excellent time management, as multiple projects will be bidding/constructed concurrently.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or related field preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Be the single point of contact for Berry Construction with all Owner’s/Architects/Engineers for construction bid documents submissions.
  • Review all bid documents for accuracy, completeness, and proper formatting.
  • Communicating with Owner’s/Architects/Engineers if errors or omissions are found.
  • Organizing, updating, storing, and distributing documentation to multiple parties using online software tools (Box, Dropbox, etc.)
  • Prepare and assemble printed bid documents (or online links) for all team members.
  • Writing and maintaining Drawing Logs for projects.
  • Maintain company compliance by enforcing document control procedures.
  • Ensure the correct, up-to-date versions of documents are available to all team members and manage all revisions.
  • Assist the Vice President of Pre-Construction with writing/reviewing AIA Contract documents. Includes, but not limited to, modifying existing AIA document language, assisting in reviewing contract language for accuracy / completeness / grammar, and making all revisions from multiple parties.
  • May perform other activities, duties, and responsibilities as necessary or assigned.
