Mesa seeks a Document Control Technician with the following skills, knowledge, and abilities: Work Location is Hybrid/Remote. It is desired that the candidate be within 2 hours of the Merrillville, IN area. If not in this area, the candidate must be willing and able to travel upon request. Possess strong verbal and written communications skills. Ability to coordinate with and interface with client personnel, engineers, and colleagues. Possess strong organizational skills. Ability to handle large volumes of hard copy documents and electronic files. Possesses strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and work effectively with clients, peers, and affiliates. Possesses strong skills in Microsoft Word, Access, and Excel. Possess willingness to develop, promote and comply with Mesa safety requirements. Possesses ability to understand and implement client and Mesa processes/procedures with regards to document control. Education/Experience: Associates Degree in Business or Technology with 5+ years and or 4-year degree with 3+ years’ experience. Experience in the Utilities or Oil-Gas, heavy refineries a plus.

  • Associates Degree in Business or Technology with 5+ years and or 4-year degree with 3+ years’ experience.
  • Intimate working knowledge of Meridian, AutoDesk Vault and AutoCAD, Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint required.
  • Strong communication and organization skills both verbal and written.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and prioritize work.
  • Must be willing to work extended hours as necessary.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally as a team.
  • Must have the authorization to work permanently in the US.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the Utilities or Oil-Gas, heavy refineries a plus.
  • Familiarity with Meridian required; AutoDesk Vault and AutoCAD, Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint required.
  • If not located within 2 hours of Merrillville, IN, the candidate must be able and willing to travel once a month to the client’s office if requested.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, organizes, and updates documents in electronic drawing management systems.
  • Provides on-time and on-budget, complete administrative and analytical support in relation to engineering document services.
  • Demonstrates adherence to client-driven engineering document services policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
  • Provides services for engineering document requests.
  • Communicates document requirements and client standards to the engineering team.
  • Performs collection, entry, and distribution procedures as required.
  • Ensures document transmittals by others are accurate and complete.
  • Utilizes interpersonal skills in maintaining balance with all party’s requirements and priorities.
  • Proactively communicates with vendors Document Control Specialists and internal teams to manage workload and project requests.
  • Contributes to the development of department policies including documentation, storage, and organization policies.
  • Initiates corrective action for continuous improvement of efficiency and customer service.
  • Performs quality assurance and quality control of engineering documents.
  • Performs periodic archiving and audits to maintain document repository standards.
  • Investigates compliance as necessary.
  • Support of engineering documents with verification of document accuracy through audits.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in analyzing data, problem identification and resolution, and ability to generate clear/concise reports indicating key issues.
