About The Position

As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the lifecycle management of joint and multinational doctrine translate complex warfighting experiences into standardized guidance that shapes how the United States and its allies operate.

Requirements

  • Candidates must demonstrate successful experience in at least five (5) of the following areas :
  • Analytic Experience: Proven ability to conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses and produce comprehensive reports for senior leadership.
  • Functional Expertise: Subject Matter Expertise in at least one of the following: Intelligence, Logistics, Command and Control (C2), Cyberspace, Space, or Planning.
  • Joint Doctrine Proficiency: Proven experience with principles guiding use and development of joint and multinational doctrine. Experience with principles related to assessment and development of joint and multinational doctrine.
  • DoD Institutional Knowledge: Practical experience working within the Joint Staff structure, including understanding of JS mission, programs, and inter-agency relationships.
  • Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills and ability to build professional networks across CCMDs and DoD Agencies. Demonstarted command of modern English grammar and the ability to produce high-quality technical writing.
  • Technical Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with Joint and Service Lessons Learned Systems and the Universal Joint Tasks process. Demonstrated proficiency in using these systems to conduct research and develop reports.
  • Clearance: TS/SCI
  • Education & Experience Requirements A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, a minimum of 7 years of warfighting operational experience

Responsibilities

  • Functional Integration: Apply deep expertise in a specific functional area to development of joint publications.
  • Doctrine Lifecycle Management: Lead assessment, development, and revision of joint and multinational doctrine.
  • Organizational Liaison: Navigate and maintain critical relationships within the Joint Staff structure, Combatant Commands (CCMDs), Military Services, and DoD Agencies.
  • Lessons Learned Research: Utilize Joint and Service Lessons Learned Systems to conduct rigorous research, identify operational trends and translate them into actionable doctrinal reports.
  • Task Alignment: Manage the Universal Joint Tasks (UJT) process, maintaining a synchronized and accurate relationship between joint tasks and official doctrine.
  • Strategic Communication: Draft, edit, and finalize formal military correspondence and publications, ensuring strict adherence to modern English grammar and professional standards.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Joint Force to build consensus during the doctrine coordination process.
