About The Position

The College of Health Professions at Mercer University invites applications for a full-time faculty member to serve as the Doctoral Capstone Coordinator for the Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program. This is a 12-month, tenure track position. The College of Health Professions at Mercer University invites applications for an innovative, research-based individual to serve as the Doctoral Capstone Coordinator of the Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) Program. The College of Health Professions fosters academic and professional excellence in leadership and service through a variety of health science programs: Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, Public Health, Clinical Psychology, Athletic Training, and Kinesiology.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by a U.S. Department of Education-recognized institutional accrediting agency
  • Active, unrestricted license to practice as an occupational therapist in Georgia or immediate eligibility for licensure
  • Three years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy, which must include:
  • Clinical practice experience as an occupational therapist
  • Teaching responsibilities at the postsecondary level
  • Scholarship/Research (e.g., scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching and learning)
  • Experience in teaching and research to meet eligibility for the rank of Associate Professor or Professor
  • Knowledge of ACOTE Standards
  • Active involvement in occupational therapy professional organizations
  • Comprehension of key issues in occupational therapy education

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience and a record of peer-reviewed scholarly activity preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Dean of the College of Health Professions and the Program Director, the Doctoral Capstone Coordinator will provide in-depth exposure to one or more of the following areas in occupational therapy: clinical skills, research skills, administration, program development and evaluation, policy development, advocacy, education, and leadership.
  • The Doctoral Capstone Coordinator for the OTD program is responsible for the program’s compliance with the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education’s (ACOTE) doctoral education requirements in Section D.1.0. Standards.
  • Additional responsibilities will include graduate student classroom and laboratory instruction and evaluation; advisement and mentoring of students; committee involvement; admissions activities; professional organization engagement; and scholarly activities to include grants, publications, and presentations.
