About The Position

This is an exciting opportunity to work for one of the top law firms in the U.S.! Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is looking for a Docket Clerk to join our team in our New York office. Under the direct supervision of the Lead Attorney for the Managing Clerk’s Office, the Docket Clerk will support electronic court filings, litigation calendaring, and overall docket management. This role is well-suited for someone who has a working knowledge of the New York and federal rules of civil procedure, strong attention to detail, and who is comfortable working in a deadline-oriented environment. Requirements

  • Minimum 2-years’ experience with Compulaw
  • Minimum 2+ years of recent, relevant experience in a law firm or managing attorney’s/clerk’s office
  • Strong knowledge of NY and federal court rules and filing procedures
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
  • Highly organized, responsive, and able to prioritize under pressure
  • The ability to be available for late filings

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with CourtAlert and Bloomberg Law a plus

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and oversee a centralized case management system and litigation calendaring system, ensuring timely entry of dates, reminders, and updates for deadlines and court appearances across all active matters.
  • Analyze court filings to identify important dates for entry into the firm-wide calendar and ensure that case teams receive timely notifications about upcoming deadlines.
  • Monitor federal and state court dockets (primarily NY) using Compulaw, CourtAlert, PACER, and other on-line platforms.
  • Review draft filings for compliance with court formatting; coordinate with attorneys and staff to correct deficiencies.
  • File legal documents electronically in federal and state courts, including after business hours when necessary.
  • Coordinate with outside vendors for service of process and retrieval of legal papers.
  • Assist attorneys with admissions and filing logistics.
  • Assist with onboarding new matters in the docketing and other MCO systems.
