We are ready to grow our team as we seek to fill a newly created position of Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Fundraising Coordinator. The position is a regular, full-time role responsible for working closely with individuals and groups across the country to organize third-party fundraisers and participate in endurance events to raise funds for cancer research. The DIY Fundraising Coordinator provides day-to-day communication, logistical support, and encouragement to fundraisers, helping them execute successful events and maximize their impact. The ideal individual for this role will be passionate about community engagement, highly organized, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates. However, preference will be given to individuals located on the East Coast, as many of our events take place in New York City, Chicago, and other East Coast cities, where regular in-person engagement is required. Job Overview The Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Fundraising Coordinator plays a key support role in the execution of grassroots fundraising efforts for the V Foundation. This position works closely with individuals and groups across the country to organize third-party fundraisers and participate in endurance events to raise funds for cancer research. The DIY Fundraising Coordinator provides day-to-day communication, logistical support, and encouragement to fundraisers, helping them execute successful events and maximize their impact. This individual will be passionate about community engagement, highly organized, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities. he DIY Fundraising Coordinator will report directly to the Director, DIY Fundraising on the performance of their duties and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, or related field.
  • 1–3years of professional experience in fundraising, events, customer service, or nonprofit administration.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and videoconferencing tools (Zoom, Teams).
  • Experience with peer-to-peer fundraising platforms such as DonorDrive.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM systems.
  • A belief in the value of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and action that demonstrates this commitment.
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. throughout the day.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to type and use a computer for various assignments.
  • Regular attendance at work is an essential job function

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a contact for individuals hosting grassroots DIY fundraising events.
  • Respond to inquiries via the DIY fundraising inbox and provide information, resources, and guidance.
  • Onboard and steward fundraisers, including welcome emails, check-ins, and post-event follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate records of fundraiser activities and communication.
  • Help coordinate shipment of swag and promotional items.
  • Maintain inventory of swag and promotional items.
  • Travel to major DIY Fundraisers, when appropriate.
  • Track and update fundraising registration details in the CRM system.
  • Assist with logistics and communication for Team V participants in races such as the NYC Marathon and Chicago Marathon.
  • Support the application process for Team V event participation, including document preparation.
  • Respond to inquiries via the Team V inbox and provide support to participants.
  • Help distribute gear and materials to race participants, working with internal and external partners.
  • Assist with research related to potential new races, events, or other endurance related fundraising opportunities
  • Coordinate with a variety of teams at the V Foundation including but not limited to Brand, Digital Marketing, Direct Marketing, and Partners for event-related outreach materials, emails, and social media.
  • Support internal reporting and data tracking efforts.
  • Support Donor Services team with DIY/Team V related matching gift tracking.
  • Assist with budget tracking documents and materials for internal review.
  • Contribute to team planning sessions and brainstorming of new fundraiser engagement strategies.
