About The Position

Advice and Wealth Management Risk is a team of high caliber individuals who are constantly innovating and building better ways of developing Risk Framework and underpinning components, building better risk insights through data analytics and building strong relationships with our business partners. We generate impactful insights and our seat at the table is earned and respected across Vanguard. We are looking for an ambitious high performing risk specialist to complement our team, to assist in the growth and development of the AWM newly created division and it’s Risk Management Framework and to provide ongoing consultative support to the business.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years risk management or related work experience.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to contribute in a dynamic, fast-paced team atmosphere
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and to perform complex analyses under tight deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Advice or Wealth Management experience is preferred.
  • Graduate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide risk guidance, oversight, and assurance services to the business based on Vanguard's risk framework.
  • Provide expert level risk advice and direction to the business.
  • Act as a consultant for senior management team to draw on for advice and guidance regarding efficiency and effectiveness of risk management within the business.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to understand their ongoing risk needs.
  • Act as a thought partner to the business.
  • Build credibility as a thought partner and effectively persuades and influences others.
  • Provide risk thought leadership and expertise.
  • Provide independent challenge and oversight in the development, implementation, and management of risk management strategies in accordance with business goals and objectives as well as standard risk management policies and procedures.
  • Leverage the best practice for advice and wealth management, and work with controls function and project teams to establish risk mitigation strategies, detailed control improvement plans and approaches to controls monitoring.
  • Work closely with the global risk partner community, Internal Audit and Compliance to identify areas for further efficiency and opportunities to drive more consistent practices.
  • Support interactions with the wider Global Risk & Security (GR&S) team, facilitating discussions and removing roadblocks where they may arise.
  • Provide risk-based training program to the business to foster a risk-smart culture.
  • Keep updated on any specific advice and wealth regulatory requirements including any upcoming changes, and support integrating those into the Risk Management Framework, where applicable.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
