About The Position

This position is responsible for: Plans, develops, coordinates, monitors, and supervises Christian Education Programs for the Kentucky/Tennessee Division. Develops, plans, and coordinates training of leaders for Corps youth and adult programming. Assists Corps in the implementation of new programs, strategies, and preparation of program proposals. Conducts community mission evaluations. Ensures all programs are in compliance with The Salvation Army mission to ensures the safety of program participants. Administers the day-to-day office operations to include preparation for statistics and reports, purchasing of supplies, promotion of programs, and adheres to department budget. With the support and direction of the Divisional Secretary of Program/Divisional Youth Secretary, oversees the successful implementation of the Safe from Harm program at all levels of administration, denominational ministry, and social services within the division. Coordinates the development of integrated systems, procedures, and divisional policy to ensure compliance with Safe from Harm guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education or a related field
  • Five (5) years’ experience developing and leading Christian education programs, Salvation Army Christian Ministry experience preferred, with one-year supervisory experience required
  • OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Bonafide Occupational Qualification Uniform Wearing Salvationist in Good Standing.
  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • Valid Passport

Nice To Haves

  • Salvation Army Christian Ministry experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plans, promotes, and implements Local Officer Training for the Kentucky/Tennessee division.
  • Participates in the selection of the curriculum and presenters, coordination of venue, meals, set-up, etc.
  • Prepares and sends out thank you notes and certificates.
  • Facilitates the training of all officers, employees, and volunteers working in high-risk positions with children, youth, and vulnerable adults with leadership assistance and consultation provided by the Divisional Youth Secretary and Territorial Child/Adult Safety Coordinator.
  • Promotes Divisional, Territorial, and National events which provide training and resources for leaders including but not limited to TOOLS, National Seminar on Evangelism, Territorial Environmental Conference and Territorial Youth Workers Conference, distributes information for non-army seminars and conferences which would offer training and resources, attends Conferences and Seminars as appropriate with approval.
  • Travels as needed and provide distance learning opportunities for promotion, training, and implementation of programs and materials.
