What you will be doing: As a lead Financial Manager for the department, this position is responsible for oversight of a significant portion of the department's finances and is responsible for setting policy direction and ensuring financial stability and sustainability by evaluating revenue streams, optimizing costs, and maintaining internal controls. The incumbent serves as a key member of the division's leadership team; their insights and decisions impact the overall financial health of the organization. This position advises executive staff on budget priorities and policy matters and provides strategic guidance and recommendations to enhance financial efficiency and effectiveness. Who we are looking for: The ideal candidate will possess the following position specific competencies: Financial Management: Prepares, justifies, and/or administers the budget for program areas; plans, administers, and monitors expenditures to ensure cost-effective support of programs and policies; assesses financial condition of an organization. Budget Administration : Knowledge of the principles and practices of budget administration and analysis; including preparing, justifying, reporting on, and executing the budget; and the relationships among program, budget, accounting, and reporting systems. Organizational Awareness : Knows the organization's mission and functions, and how its social, political, and technological systems work and operates effectively within them; this includes the programs, policies, procedures, rules, and regulations of the organization. Oral and Written Communication : Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Supervision: Plans, distributes, and monitors work assignments; sets task priorities; evaluates work performance and provides feedback to others on their performance; ensures that staff are appropriately selected, utilized, and developed, and that they are treated in a fair and equitable manner. Assignments include the authority and responsibility to recommend or independently take action to employ (i.e., appoint, transfer, promote), discipline or discharge, or adjudicate grievances of direct reports. Special Note: This position requires a valid driver's license.

Requirements

Three years of professional experience in the broad occupational fields of the division or department and two years of supervisory and/or managerial experience, which may be concurrent with the professional experience.
Financial Management: Prepares, justifies, and/or administers the budget for program areas; plans, administers, and monitors expenditures to ensure cost-effective support of programs and policies; assesses financial condition of an organization.
