Were just built to be better. We are a great company. We are seeking a Texas Division Manager to join our Infrastructure team. The team provides a variety of services including construction materials testing (CMT), construction engineering inspection (CEI), quality assurance (QA), and engineering and design. The right candidate could sit in Houston, Austin, San Antonio, or Dallas/Fort Worth. The Division Manager leads all aspects of our business in Texas, including management of a profit and loss center, client relationship development, business growth, staff management, and project delivery. This position reports directly to the West Region Senior Vice President with extensive interaction and coordination with the Infrastructure President, regional Operations Director, other Division Managers, Sector Manager direct reports, business development leads, staff across Texas, and corporate team members (finance, legal, HR, safety, etc.).

Requirements

  • BSCE or MSCE preferred. Willing to accept another degree with more experience, as long as candidate has demonstrated experience leading a similar business.
  • 18 years minimum professional experience required.
  • Experience leading a business operation in Texas within the engineering-construction industry with a related scope and complexity and revenue of at least $50M/year.
  • Deep client service/sales experience, including client relationships within Texas.
  • Strategic planning experience.
  • Proven ability to lead and grow a business at a high growth rate.
  • Proven people leader. Proven ability to attract, develop and retain talent.
  • Good organizational skills with ability to prioritize, delegate, and multitask effectively.
  • Outgoing, self-starter with innate sales orientation, optimism and drive.
  • Strong collaborator, creative thinker, and problem solver to navigate project delivery challenges.
  • Ability to travel 20% of the time, minimum.

Responsibilities

  • Safety: Drive a culture of safety first. Meeting Health and Safety metrics across Texas. Engaging to resolve safety issues and take corrective actions.
  • Strategy: Serve as a senior leader of the company in Texas and the West regional leadership team. Contribute to the strategic direction of the firm. Understand, communicate, and lead the Division consistently with the overall Infrastructure Strategic Plan.
  • Growth: Develop, lead, and execute on Texas strategic growth plans in partnership with the Infrastructure Business Development team. Maintain exceptional client satisfaction and strengthen client relationships. Achieve Texas sales goals. Support win work activities through identifying top pursuits and ensuring appropriate focus and resources assigned with capture plans, win strategies, pricing, and risk management. Drive key account management program in Division.
  • Operations: Lead the development and delivery of the annual Texas business plan, budget, and forecast (sales, backlog, revenue, gross margin, overhead, and profit). Serve as the overall business leader responsible for Texas financial performance; monitoring and managing the month-to-month operational and financial performance of the Texas Division. Monitor cash flow and ensure timely billings and collections.
  • People: Retain, develop, and reward a high-performing team and recruit new talent to drive growth. Ensure leaders embody Atlas values of Life, Heart, Trust, and Mastery. Engage regularly with staff throughout Texas. Create opportunities for staff, provide feedback on performance, and develop succession plan.
  • Project delivery: Promote a culture of strong project management and delivery with on-time, in-budget, quality delivery. Actively manage overall project performance in Division. Participate in top project reviews. Serve as Principal-in-Charge or PM on key projects. Partner with Regional Project Delivery Manager to support PMs in project delivery and managing risk.
