The Department of Psychiatry at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is seeking a Division Chief of Interventional Psychiatry to provide strategic, clinical, and academic leadership across the Department’s interventional psychiatry programs, including electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), esketamine, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), and transcranial direct-current stimulation (tDCS), as well as growth opportunities for the field of interventional psychiatry and neuromodulation. The Division Chief will work collaboratively with the Berenson-Allen Center for Noninvasive Brain Stimulation (CNBS) in the Department of Neurology on clinical, operational, and academic aspects of TMS and tDCS services. A Harvard Medical School appointment at the rank of instructor, assistant, or associate professor would be commensurate with the record of accomplishments. The Department of Psychiatry is deeply committed to delivering high-quality, safe, and equitable psychiatric care to a diverse patient population while advancing excellence in education, research, and innovation. Interventional psychiatry and neuromodulation are central to this mission, providing advanced, evidence-based treatments for patients with psychiatric illnesses warranting these treatments. Encompassed within this role is a growing portfolio of interventional and neuromodulatory treatment programs across inpatient and outpatient settings, including TMS and tDCS delivered in collaboration with the CNBS. The Division Chief will report to Department of Psychiatry clinical leadership, and work closely with the Chair of the Department, Vice Chairs, Service Chiefs, and institutional leaders across BIDMC, as well as BIDMC’s core institutional and academic partners, and Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) to strengthen and grow interventional psychiatry and neuromodulation services. The successful candidate will be expected to enhance clinical service delivery, quality, and operational effectiveness; support education and faculty growth; and promote investigation and innovation in established and emerging neuromodulation and interventional treatments. This includes close collaboration with the CNBS for TMS and tDCS-related clinical care, program development, and research. The Division Chief will provide clinical care within the Department in one or more interventional psychiatry services.
