The District Manager supports the strategic plans of the organization by directing store managers in the implementation of the tactical plan(s). They provide support of store managers in achieving these plans. they communicates and provides feedback to corporate support departments. This position is a virtual/remote job with up to 75% travel within a designated region.

Requirements

  • Requires PC skills, with knowledge of Excel, Word, power point and Outlook.
  • Must have valid driver's license and insurance and the ability to drive a vehicle.
  • Extensive driving is required in this position to cover the geographic area of the district.
  • Some travel by plane and overnight stays may be required
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or two to four years retail or wholesale store or restaurant or multi-unit management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supports, cooperates with, and contributes to the District Management team by sharing ideas, and working together with peers to achieve company goals.
  • Participates in the development of the store managers work performance and leadership by mentoring, coaching, modeling behavior, and providing continuous feedback.
  • Develops staff for future opportunities by providing developmental opportunities for associates.
  • Creates a motivating environment to inspire team cohesiveness.
  • Is familiar with the geographic, demographic, and business climate of his/her district. Makes recommendations of new store locations, identifies new products and categories of merchandise, and is aware of competitive strategies.
  • Always represents the organization in a professional manner.
  • Demonstrates the ability to understand, analyze, evaluate, manage, and train others on a variety of financial reports
  • Ensures that company policies, procedures and programs are followed. Audits compliance with company policies and government regulations. Recommends modification of policies and programs as needed.
  • Manages the recruiting and development process to ensure that stores are properly staffed and that sufficient candidates are available for advancement opportunities. Identifies potential associates from both inside and outside the Company.
  • Maintains a District Bench of talent by using and training the current development tools such as Behavior based interviews, hiring high potential candidates, creating, and maintaining purposeful IDP’s, provide development activities, maintain and active District succession plans, conduct Talent Reviews, maintaining a current and active 9-Box and providing ongoing coaching and training.
  • Directly supervises approximately 10 to 15 store managers.
  • Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of his/her district unit.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing and hiring; training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
