About The Position

District Sales Manager – Central California (Modesto, Ca to Bakersfield, Ca) Who Are We? Toro’s Irrigation and Lighting business is located in Riverside, CA. The Toro Company’s irrigation business is comprised of two distinct brands, Toro® and Irritrol®. Both brands offer a full line of solid, dependable, irrigation products including controllers, sensors, valves, spray heads and rotors to help customers care for golf courses, sports fields, public green spaces, commercial and residential properties. Unique Lighting Systems is a leading brand of professional grade lighting fixtures, low voltage transformers, LED lamps and the patented HUB system for installation. Serving both residential and commercial markets, Unique Lighting Systems offers a full line of outdoor lighting products. The main objectives of this position are to create and grow demand and sales volume beyond market growth rates for Toro Irrigation & Irritrol Irrigation and the Unique Lighting brands, in a specified geography. The District Sales Manager (DSM) will support programs and demand creation sales functions for all brands. By growing territory sales through the distributor channel focusing on contractors and other key influencers. What Will You Do? In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for the following: Influence Demand Creation and Sales Growth: Take the actions necessary to create and support demand for the Toro Irrigation & Irritrol Irrigation and the Unique Lighting brands, with contractors, distributor, and end users. These actions will include: Deliver sales goals and profitability targets quarterly Develop and support contractor demand creation programs utilizing Contractor loyalty platform Influence new product introductions and product placement Develop, coordinate and deliver education seminars, training events, and product demonstrations in territory to influence support and usage of all product lines (Using proven training technique of product demo's, lunch and learns, etc.) Track contractor, project targets, and market updates using CRM. Support distributor sales and branch manager relationships as needed to influence the growth of all brands with contractors. Manage budgets to maximize ROI & ensure profitable growth. Communicate with counterparts on key projects as it relates to product staging for inventory purposes. Other Job-Related Components: Provides technical sales support for the development of the assigned district sales market Keeps current on all pertinent aspects of the agriculture industry, including competitive and allied trade activities. Communicate new information back through the organization. Actively participates in principal trade association meetings, trade shows, conventions, etc. with the ability to speak at appropriate association meetings. Recommend and communicate needed actions to: Area Business Manager, Marketing Department, Programs Administration, Director of Sales, General Manager of Division Maintains a professional business relationship with all necessary Distributor personnel with emphasis on assisting in the attainment of goals/objectives. Travel requirement: 80%. Mostly local/within territory.

Requirements

  • Degree (BS/BA) from an accredited college or university, or equivalent work-related experience with HS Diploma/GED.
  • A minimum of five years relevant business experience required.
  • Fully qualified in sales role and works with limited direction.
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of proficiency with application of industry products.
  • Ability to translate product features and advantages to customer benefits.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Comfortable presenting at small- and large-scale events.
  • Live or relocate to the central CA territory.

Nice To Haves

  • Focus on Business Administration, Sales & Marketing or Business Management a plus.
  • Experience in a distributor sales role, Agriculture, Turf Management, and/or Landscape Design, advantageous.

  • Competitive Salary – The pay range takes into account skills, experience, education, and location. It is not common to be hired at or near the top of the range; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the annual pay range is between $105,000 - $120,000.
