The District Sales Manager (DSM) is a frontline sales leadership role focused on driving execution, accountability, and performance within a defined geographic district in the Industrial & Utility sales organization. This role serves as the primary link between the Director of Industrial & Utility Sales and Technical Sales Representatives (TSRs), ensuring disciplined sales execution, consistent coaching, and strong partner alignment. The DSM is also responsible for managing manufacturers’ representatives in their region, collaborating closely with the Director of Partner sales and Director of Data sales.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in industrial, utility, energy, or technical sales.
  • Prior experience leading teams or serving as a senior sales contributor with leadership responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of channel sales models and complex deal environments.
  • Proven ability to coach, influence, and drive performance across teams.
  • Must be able and willing to work varying schedules which may include nights, weekends, and public holidays.
  • Must be able to pass the company’s driving requirements.
  • Certain vehicles may also require a specific drivers license and have additional driving requirements.
  • Must be able and willing to do overnight travel.
  • Must be able and willing to work overtime.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds/11.5 kilos on occasions.
  • Employees are responsible for wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment in the proper manner at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of Technical Sales Representatives within the assigned district.
  • Drive district-level revenue performance, forecast accuracy, and execution consistency.
  • Conduct regular coaching, deal reviews, and performance management activities.
  • Ensure pipeline quality, opportunity progression, and CRM discipline across the district.
  • Support complex deal strategy, pricing decisions, and escalation management.
  • Lead regional channel partners and ensure alignment with EnerSys sales strategy.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Product Management, Operations, and Customer Service.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for over $25 million in annual regional revenue.
  • Improve sales effectiveness, deal velocity, and forecast reliability.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and development plans for TSRs.
  • Identify and develop high-potential talent and succession candidates.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
