Under broad supervision, coordinates and performs inspections for compliance with policy, procedures, state and federal regulations and standards to ensure environmental health, safety, and/or compliance. Develops policies, methods and programs on safe driving, driver education, alcohol or drug awareness or occupational safety and health issues. May serve as lead. Description of duties: Serves as the Safety Program Manager at district-level as a member of the HR-Safety Section. Advocates safety to all levels of employees. Investigates incidents (crashes and injuries) and performs root cause analyses seeking corrective and preventive actions to be implemented. Files investigation report for any catastrophic, fatal or serious incidents. Responds to emergency incidents and weather conditions. Develops policies, procedures and programs to move agency toward a "zero harm" safety culture. Partners with management to create an effective work unit safety program including facilitating positive employee engagement activities. Develops and conducts safety training for employees. Inputs, compiles, analyzes and interprets safety data to reduce losses. Investigates cases of worker's compensation, auto property damage, general liability, and private property damage. Liaise with outside safety partners to integrate solutions for safe production. Serves seven satellite offices of the Department within metropolitan Atlanta (BRDG INSP, MAU, OEM, OMAT, SLB, TMC & HERO) and may assist elsewhere as assigned.
