About The Position

The District Manager is responsible for leading a multi-unit retail district, driving strategic business initiatives, and achieving financial and operational goals. Reporting to the VP Director of Stores, this role provides leadership to store management teams, fostering a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement. The District Manager will analyze business trends, coach talent, ensure operational excellence, and develop high-potential leaders to support long-term company growth. Frequent travel within the district is required.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of management experience in a highly complex or multi-unit retail business environment.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales and profit results.
  • Demonstrated success in identifying and developing store management talent to meet current and future business goals.
  • Strong professional and interpersonal skills with the ability to solve problems strategically.
  • Ability to build and leverage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to influence business decisions.
  • Proven ability to adapt quickly to ambiguity and prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence partners across multiple levels.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet business needs.
  • Ability to travel up to 75% of the time
  • Ability to bend, twist, stoop and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift/carry materials up to 50lbs, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership & Planning Provides strategic leadership, planning, and execution of solutions for current and future business needs.
  • Builds strong partnerships with cross functional leadership and teams.
  • Ensures all initiatives for the district are aligned with the company's vision, governing business strategies, and current business priorities.
  • Develops strategic direction and establishes appropriate priorities for projects critical to success.
  • Acts as focal point for progress reporting on key performance initiatives and provides timely updates and communication to senior leadership.
  • Business & Financial Performance Analyzes business trends and creates plans to increase sales and control expenses to drive overall profitability.
  • Utilizes data, statistical reports, and benchmarking to analyze current performance and identify metric-driven solutions.
  • Monitors and measures financial, operational, and service results; holds teams accountable for achieving district goals through ongoing store visits.
  • Effectively communicates business and financial objectives to management teams; audits performance, collects data, and communicates results to the VP, Director of Stores and corporate office.
  • People Leadership & Talent Development Coaches store teams in the delivery of strategic company initiatives.
  • Provides coaching, mentoring, and direction for store management teams to meet district and company goals.
  • Builds and develops management teams to train, motivate, and challenge store teams to meet financial goals, resolve problems proactively, and enhance team performance and customer service.
  • Identifies bench strength through performance assessments; develops high-potential talent to build a leadership pipeline.
  • Ensures consistent application of performance management practices, including annual reviews, progressive counseling, and development plans.
  • Encourages ownership of results and empowers others to succeed.
  • Remains effective in a changing environment and manages change by adjusting priorities, aligning teams, and responding to evolving demands.
  • Operational Excellence & Store Standards Ensures stores consistently meet company standards (e.g., visual presentation, cleanliness, inventory levels).
  • Audits store operations and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Champions a culture of safety by ensuring all locations adhere to company safety standards and proactively addresses risks across the district.
  • Serves as a champion for continuous improvement, influencing change across all levels of the organization.
