By joining our Engineering Support Branch as a District Facilities Technician, in Jefferson County, you’ll have the opportunity to review maintenance or repair needs of highway buildings and related equipment throughout a specific highway district to determine the scope of the project and the expertise required for completion. Summary of Responsibilities: Review maintenance or repairs needs. Perform general building maintenance. Oversee the day-to-day activities and check the work of contract personnel. Cleans HVAC equipment to ensure proper functionality. Keep record of equipment servicing and maintenance schedules. Ideal candidate will have experience in: Building maintenance experience. Mechanical maintenance experience. Vocational or technical school training in one of the related fields; building maintenance, mechanical maintenance, skilled trades. Have a valid driver’s license. Incumbents in this job title will have physically demanding requirements and be required to travel throughout an assigned district. This position requires standing, stooping, bending, and lifting 50 pounds. It also requires the incumbent to work on State Highways with oncoming traffic to repair roads. Requirements

  • Must have four years of building maintenance, skilled trades or mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Vocational or technical school training in one of the above or related fields will substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license at time of appointment in this classification.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification.
