District Attorney Legal Assistant

SALARY RANGE: $19,287.00 - $31,850.00 This position is time-limited, grant funded, part-time, 20 hours per week. The Office of the District Attorney, Prosecutorial District 12, seeks a qualified candidate to provide legal support services to the prosecutors in Harnett County.
Requirements
- Knowledge of: court system and procedures; legal terminology; and community resources to refer victims and witnesses.
- Skill in: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint; accurately typing 35-40 wpm; and answering a multi-line telephone system.
- Ability to: interview to elicit information from victims and witnesses to assure appropriate services; coordinate and schedule the daily operations of the victim and witness program; manage the court appearances of victims and witnesses to ensure their presence in the courtroom when needed; communicate orally and in writing with persons of diverse backgrounds; establish and maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement officers, officials of related agencies and the general public; and calmly handle stressful situations.
- Graduation from high school or high school equivalency certificate and two (2) years of legal secretarial experience.
