About The Position

Under indirect supervision, the Distribution System Inspector oversees work performed by contractors on AEP electrical facilities. This role involves assisting with job planning, safety, and crew critique, as well as inspecting and accepting or rejecting contractor work to ensure compliance with safety, design, construction standards, and quality. The inspector is responsible for assuring that contracted construction projects flow smoothly, resolving customer concerns related to contractor work, and documenting construction events to protect AEP's interests from future claims. Additionally, the inspector must verify that contractor invoices are accurate, complete, and reasonable, and provide feedback on contractor performance to Contract Administration for future contracting activities. The inspector will also certify the acceptability of contractors' work for invoice approval and payment. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Thorough knowledge of distribution work processes, procedures and safety standards.
  • Minimum two years’ experience as a Distribution System Inspector Assoc. or equivalent related experience.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving safety record.
