The Distribution Specialist (Distribution Operations) is responsible for day-to-day operational performance at assigned Distribution Center (s), ensuring reliable order fulfillment, SLA adherence, and effective issue resolution. This role serves as the first line of defense for customer and commercial escalations related to distribution operations and plays a critical role in maintaining service continuity. This hands-on role works closely with 3PL partners, customer service, commercial teams, and internal supply chain stakeholders to drive on-time, in-full execution, resolve operational issues in real time, and maintain strong operational discipline at the DC level. The Distribution Specialist focuses on execution, performance management, and rapid problem-solving, while partnering with Distribution Optimization teams to surface recurring issues and enable continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field preferred.
  • 3–6 years of experience in distribution, warehousing, or logistics operations, preferably in a 3PL-managed environment.
  • Hands-on experience managing daily warehouse performance, SLAs, and operational issue resolution.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with customer service, transportation, and commercial teams.
  • Strong execution mindset with the ability to manage multiple real-time issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid understanding of warehouse KPIs and operational performance drivers.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to manage escalations calmly and professionally.
  • Data-driven approach to problem-solving and performance management.
  • Comfortable working closely with external partners while maintaining accountability

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with WMS and warehouse reporting tools.
  • Proficiency in Excel or similar tools for performance tracking and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Customer & Commercial Escalation Management Act as the first point of contact for customer and commercial escalations related to DC operations and order fulfillment. Triage, communicate, and coordinate resolution of service issues to minimize customer impact and restore service levels quickly.
  • Real-Time Issue Resolution Own real-time operational escalations including warehouse delays, inventory discrepancies, system outages, and execution failures. Coordinate with 3PL operators, IT, transportation, and customer service to drive timely resolution and clear root-cause visibility.
  • Daily Operations & SLA Management Drive on-time, in-full (OTIF) execution across assigned DC(s) in line with contractual SLAs and internal service targets. Monitor daily operational performance and ensure adherence to agreed service, quality, and productivity standards.
  • KPI & Performance Management Track, analyze, and act on key warehouse performance metrics including on-time delivery, pick/pack accuracy, dock-to-stock time, damage rates, and labor productivity. Review performance regularly with 3PL partners and escalate risks or deviations as needed.
  • Labor & Resource Planning Partner with 3PL operators to ensure appropriate staffing, training, and shift coverage aligned with volume forecasts and operational requirements. Monitor labor utilization, overtime, and productivity, signaling risks or inefficiencies early.
  • 3PL Partner Management Oversee daily performance of 3PL operators, ensuring compliance with SLAs, operating procedures, and safety standards. Foster strong working relationships while maintaining clear accountability for execution and results.
  • Cost Control & Operational Discipline Monitor operational cost drivers such as overtime, rework, waste, damages, and equipment usage. Provide early signals on cost deviations and support corrective actions to maintain cost control at the DC level.
  • Continuous Improvement Signal & Support Identify and surface recurring operational issues, trends, and execution gaps to Distribution Optimization teams. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, root-cause analyses, and CI events as required.
