PNM is looking for a DISTRIBUTION System Protection Engineering Manager responsible for leading PNM’s distribution protection department, performing complex engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient, and economic manner. The distribution system protection engineering manager is responsible for setting standards, creating strategy, leading, and providing supervision for the following: Performing short circuit, overcurrent, and distance coordination studies using ASPEN Oneliner and/or Synergi; Calculating and developing protective relay settings for new projects and/or modifying existing protective relay settings as required to maintain system reliability and coordinate settings with neighboring entities as needed; Analyzing system disturbances and recommending mitigation plans; Acting as an SME on assigned NERC and/or CIP compliance standards for Transmission Protection roles; Reviewing relaying one line, three line, AC/DC schematics, wiring diagrams and other protection design deliverables for accuracy; Supporting regulatory filings or other PNM plans and programs; Ensuring compliance with utility standards, safety regulations, and state/federal rules (IEEE, NESC, FERC/NERC) as applicable; Providing technical support and direction to field personnel and contractors, and training to less experienced staff, as needed; Communicating engineering ideas, recommendations and evaluations to diverse internal and external audiences; Applying engineering expertise to improve or develop new standards and new technology solutions; Performing all work in a safe and timely manner.
