Distribution Manager

AirgasGreenville, NC

About The Position

Airgas is seeking a high-energy, detail-oriented Distribution Manager to join our Greenville team. While your title is Distribution Manager, your "mission control" focus is the daily orchestration of our distribution engine. You will be the primary architect of our delivery routes and the direct leader for our driving team. In this role, you bridge the gap between complex logistics and superior customer service. You’ll ensure our trucks are moving efficiently while maintaining a "safety-first" culture. Additionally, you serve as the Branch Manager’s right hand, stepping in to lead the full site operations in their absence.

Requirements

  • P&L Awareness
  • Data Literacy
  • Operational Leadership & Decision Making
  • Technical & Analytical Competencies
  • Fleet & Regulatory Compliance (DOT/FMCSA)
  • Advanced Logistics & Route Planning Expertise

Responsibilities

  • Dynamic Route Engineering: Daily oversight of route planning to ensure maximum stops and fuel efficiency. You will pivot routes in real-time to accommodate emergency "hot-shot" deliveries or vehicle breakdowns.
  • Fleet Performance Analytics: Utilize routing software to analyze driver behavior, idle times, and off-route miles to drive down operational costs.
  • Driver Lifecycle Management: Lead the "Morning Kickoff"—conducting safety briefings, verifying manifests, and ensuring every driver is dispatched with a clear, optimized plan.
  • Regulatory Command: Maintain 100% "audit-ready" status for all DOT filings, ELD (Electronic Logging Device) logs, and Hazmat shipping papers.
  • Equipment Readiness: Coordinate with the maintenance shop to schedule PMs (Preventative Maintenance) so that the Greenville fleet maintains maximum uptime.
  • Command Continuity: Act as the Acting Branch Manager in the manager's absence, overseeing the warehouse, counter sales, and P&L (Profit & Loss) integrity.
  • Safety Culture: Lead the branch's "Safety First" initiative, ensuring that the handling of high-pressure cylinders and cryogenic liquids is performed with zero compromises.
  • Customer Liaison: Act as the escalation point for delivery-related customer concerns, bridging the gap between the driver's experience on the road and the customer's expectations.

Benefits

  • We care about and support our Airgas Families. This is evident not only through our competitive compensation but also through a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision plans, short-term and long-term disability, life and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, Employee Assistance Program (EAP), pre-tax commuter transportation benefit, parental leave, vacation, sick time, floating holidays, jury duty and funeral/bereavement leave, and paid holidays for all eligible full-time employees. Additionally, we offer our eligible employees a 401k plan with company matching funds, tuition reimbursement, discounted college tuition for eligible employees’ dependents, and an Airgas Scholarship Program for dependent children. Associates who are members of collective bargaining units should review their bargaining agreement to determine whether they are eligible for some or all of the benefits described here and to see any special terms or conditions for eligibility.
