The Distribution Line Technician - Journeyman is responsible for the safe construction and maintenance of all overhead and underground distribution facilities, excluding vaults, manholes, and hot compounds. This role involves troubleshooting and repairing distribution circuits and equipment for both overhead and underground systems. Technicians must be proficient in computer programs and adaptable to new utility technologies. They may work independently or supervise lower-classified personnel like Ground Technicians or Line Technician Apprentices. All work must adhere to company safety requirements, design standards, and work methods. The position demands working extended hours, including nights and weekends, in various weather conditions, and requires travel for emergencies and storm restoration. Successful candidates must pass an interview, a Lineman Simulation Assessment Test (SAT), and a Department of Transportation (DOT) background check/drug screen. A residency requirement mandates living within 40 minutes of an assigned Operations Complex within 90 days of employment, with no relocation assistance provided.
