Line Technicians at Duke Energy are responsible for the safe construction and maintenance of all overhead and underground distribution facilities, excluding vaults, manholes, and hot compounds. They must be proficient in troubleshooting and repairing distribution circuits and equipment, as well as in computer programs and new utility technology. This role may involve working independently or supervising lower-classified technicians, always adhering to company safety requirements, design standards, and work methods. The position demands availability for extended hours, including nights and weekends, and working in various weather conditions, with travel required for emergencies and storm restoration. Successful candidates must pass an interview, a Lineman Simulation Assessment Test (SAT), and a DOT background check/drug screen. A residency requirement mandates living within 40 minutes of the assigned Operations Complex within 90 days of employment, with no relocation assistance provided.
