About The Position

Distribution Finance Internship, Spring 2026 This is a year-long internship. Internship candidates can expect a full-time onsite internship program during the summer and part-time during the school year. The expected start date for this internship will be February 2026, running through May 2027 (or after). Carefully selected from universities across the country, our interns bring distinctive ideas and perspectives to our organization. Distribution Finance Internship As a Distribution Finance Intern, you will work alongside your hiring manager, mentor, and team to complete tasks critical for Northwestern Mutual's success. Requirements

  • Junior class or higher with expected graduation of May 2027 (or after)
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field from an accredited college or university
  • Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher
  • Previous work or classroom experience in one or more of the following: Accounting, Finance
  • Be able to adhere to 3+ day in-office policy

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Accounting, Finance internship and/or relevant project experience
  • Proficient in excel – financial modeling, large data set analysis, pivot tables, nested if statements, array formulas
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving ability
  • High degree of self-motivation, passion, and a drive to learn
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities

Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Performs tasks required to build monthly Network Office (NO) and District Network Office (DNO) Financial Statement Extracts (FSE). Monitors the financial results of FSE (Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows) and assists in updating the financial models to keep financial reporting in good standing.
  • Financial Modeling: Performs tasks required to maintain and update, key financial reporting tools. Maintenance includes bi-weekly and monthly updates, inclusive of, but not limited to Expected Growth (EG) Tracking, Line of Credit (LOC) Analysis, Cycle Reporting, etc.
  • Access Requests: Performs tasks required to grant system (LinkNet) access to Field Partners in conjunction with hiring manager and mentor.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Supports projects and data requests as necessary or as needed.
