This position serves as the liaison between the Distribution Center entities and external drivers as well as providing clerical support to provide accurate information to Inventory Control, Customer Service and Transportation. Ensure that work assignments are distributed as outlined by the DC Shift Supervisor and recorded in the various computer programs to include the WMS and scheduling tool. The position requires basic familiarity with Warehouse picking and staging practices and fundamental inventory processing policies and procedures, including export. Each employee shall be aware of the importance of the element of quality in their daily job function. The employees shall be able to comply with the GMPs (current Good Manufacturing Practices) pertaining to the manufacturing, storage, and distribution of food. The employee should be able to maintain a constant awareness of the appropriate and proper personal hygiene for a food storage and distribution facility, be able to read and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to produces a safe and quality product that meets or exceeds our customers’ expectations. Employees shall also be aware that our customers may request additional measures to be taken in quality and food safety systems such as those put forth in the Global Food Safety Initiative that include the British Retail Consortium (BRC). Maintain product safety and quality and legality for storage and distribution of product in accordance with the JM Smucker quality policy and standards. Follow the Company’s Basic Beliefs and Commitment to each other when dealing with external and internal customers by providing exceptional customer service to all and exhibiting strong teamwork skills daily. Respond to customer service inquiries in a timely, professional and courteous manner to include greeting and checking drivers in upon arrival , process driver paperwork, answering questions and giving clear and concise direction. Monitoring and expediting of order pick tickets through the order processing system ensuring all special requirements are fulfilled and maximizing fillrate. Ensuring that jockey assignments are dispersed appropriately to maximize productivity and have trailers in place for consistent dock work through the shift. Ensuring that there are adequate job assignments ready to be distributed to forklift operators throughout their shift to maximize productivity. Daily monitoring of inbounds and outbounds to prevent detention/dwell charges. Ensure that all ship verification has taken place at driver check out from DC to include BOL accuracy. Generate accurate paperwork for LTL shipments. Provide loaded trailer report, short trailer report and CHEP On Hand report When necessary, suggest alternatives to best serve customer needs. (Example: Order consolidation, cuts, delayed ship date to maximize fillrate) Provide a shift update to OPS team ensure a smooth transition from shift to shift with the most up to date information Maintain traffic flow in and out of the DC. To be observant to detect and report potential equipment failures to avoid damage to or loss of equipment. To be observant and willing to suggest changes or modifications to equipment or processes to help improve efficiencies. Assure compliance to all quality standards; GMP, SOP and BRC requirements. Maintain compliance with safety rules and regulations. Other duties as assigned.
