As the Operations Manager you will oversee the tasks required for planning, scheduling, and distributing domestic and international customer orders. Manage schedules and staffing levels. Ensure all procedures for receiving inventory control and shipping are followed. Ensure that all the export business shipping procedures are followed. Oversee training requirements for all LaPorte Team members. Implement Lean, Six Sigma, and efficiency projects. Enforce safety guidelines for all employees.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Logistics Management, or applicable degrees related to distribution-type activities.
  • 7-10 years in a manufacturing/distribution setting.
  • 7-10 years of management experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced distribution environment.
  • May be required to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to walk, bend, stoop, lift and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Proficient in Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Transportation Management Systems.
  • Ability to travel up to 5%

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with SAP or other ERP systems is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee accuracy of the receiving/shipping processes, and ensure procedures are followed daily.
  • Support the cycle counting program by meeting metrics associated with inventory control. Enforce compliance with the VGO Dashboard
  • Ensure all EHS standards are met. Ensure monthly audits are conducted, completed/entered into Corporate EHS systems.
  • Have oversight of accounts payable, goods receipts, and blocked stock, and manage inventory reconciliation issues.
  • Support the plant manager and other team members by solving problems, improving processes, and training employees.
  • Give guidance and subject matter expertise for global export shipping, customer service, checking governmental regulations, and all other duties for export order fulfillment.
  • Ensure all aspects of Valvoline's Responsible Operations guidelines are followed to keep the LaPorte facility operating with zero incidents, maintain compliance, and reduce environmental impact on the local community.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.
