About The Position

The Display Cook will be preparing foods to order based on station needs. Adheres to standards of service as established by the operation. Must be able to perform in a high-volume, fast-paced, customer-focused environment. Primary Functions: The display cook prepares foods requiring short cooking times for customers as per their requests and menu standards. A Display cook must demonstrate the ability to handle sauté and wok equipment over high heat, char-broiler, fryolators, ovens, flattop grill and batch freezer. The display cook must have the ability to prepare four to five separate orders at the same time while paying close attention to maintaining a clean work area. The display cook must carefully follow Dining Services recipes and culinary arts techniques. The display cook must have the ability to communicate with customers and interact in a professional manner. This includes taking customer orders, having full knowledge of products being served. The display cook must have the ability to be cross trained at other stations for reassignment. The display cook is required to participate in all other duties as assigned by manager or Head Cook. Lastly, the display cook must be able to comply with all state and local food service regulations, including practicing SERVSAFE and NSF standards. Requirements: Prior Cooking experience required. Must be able to comprehend, convert, and prepare recipes. Must be able to lift 25 lbs on a regular basis and up to 50 lbs occasionally. Must be able to use chemicals required in daily cleaning. Ability to read and comprehend English required. Uniforms furnished by department. Hair restraint as required in College-Union Agreement Meal Breaks as assigned by management. Must have reliable transportation The position is a float and may be moved to another location to fill a vacancy and/or assist as needed. This position is required to work at multiple dining locations as requested by management. There may or may not be advanced notice of the job locations or job tasks. This position has been classified as essential personnel. In the event of inclement weather or other emergency conditions that require the College to close, you are expected to report to work if you are scheduled to work that day, in accordance with Article 8.1.f of the Independent Service and Maintenance Union contract.
