Receives calls via telephone or radio requesting transport services and schedules drivers to meet demand in a priority sequence. Maintains contact with drivers regarding their location, estimated arrival/return. Alerts drivers when urgent condition, HAZMAT or radioactive material needs transport. Coordinates receipt of proper permits and routing through Transportation Rate Specialists. Supervised by Group Manager or Unit Lead. Essential Responsibilities: Directs routing for trucks from 1 ½ ton single axle to 26,000-pound tractor-trailer combination rigs. Keeps routing direction/map files to ensure driver scheduled pick up and deliveries are expeditious. Ensures permits for loads requiring them are obtained prior to driver picking up load and conveys information to driver. Monitors truck locations and movement through constant phone/radio contact to ensure delays are avoided. Reports and receives direction via radio, email, or cellular phone. May be assigned to other work centers/tasks during periods of light demand. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
