Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 0-2 years of experience (preferred) in transportation, logistics, dispatch, or fleet management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, internet applications, and company-specific software
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Exceptional patience and professionalism in managing high-pressure or volatile situations
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations

Responsibilities

  • Customer Service
  • Solicit freight orders from assigned customer accounts and schedule or reschedule pickup and delivery appointments based on business needs.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to maximize freight volume, ensure account satisfaction, and meet service expectations.
  • Monitor communication systems to accept load tenders and proactively provide shipment status updates, including updating customer portals or EDI systems as required.
  • Address service deviations by identifying alternate solutions, including changes to appointments or driver assignments, while maintaining customer-specific requirements.
  • Log and resolve customer complaints during shifts, escalating to account management with detailed documentation when necessary.
  • Ensure drivers have sufficient hours of service before accepting freight, and accurately enter new customer locations into the system, including gate instructions and geofencing.
  • Load Planning
  • Assign freight to appropriate drivers by reviewing availability, DOT hours-of-service compliance, and equipment compatibility.
  • Reassign or repower loads as needed to minimize service failures and empty miles while maintaining efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Implement routing solutions that align with account demands and operational efficiency goals.
  • Fleet Management
  • Respond to all incoming driver calls and resolve issues promptly, including updating messages and tracking active loads to ensure on-time performance.
  • Address missing macros, assist with lumper fees, permits, and emergency travel or transportation arrangements (e.g., cabs, rideshare, bus).
  • Reseat drivers in alternate equipment when needed to prevent delays or income loss.
  • Support emergency home time requests and assist with payroll research, including locating BOLs and resolving pay issues with appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain accurate dispatch and mileage records per account SOPs and company policies.
  • Notify Fleet Maintenance of needed trailer repairs and assist with customer-owned trailer issues.
  • Foster trust and professionalism with drivers through consistent support and problem-solving.
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide backup support for account supervisors as needed, including scheduling BPMs, coordinating home time, and other assigned tasks (excluding EVE events).
  • Maintain punctual and reliable attendance to ensure efficient departmental operation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
