About The Position

The Dispatcher/Call Taker is a non-supervisory member of the operations division and is subordinate and directly accountable to the Director of Communication. The Call Taker may also take direction from the Chief Executive Officer, Director of Operations, Vice President, and supervisors. Call Takers are responsible for helping facilitate all aspects of transit and ambulance transportation provided by Coastal Medical. An individual in this position must value honesty and accountability, be highly dependable, self-motivated, approachable and able to work with a great deal of independence. The following list describes the essential duties of the position:

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or other equivalent.
  • Current motor vehicle operator’s license and reliable personal vehicle
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions using the English language.
  • Must have a minimum of one year customer service experience.
  • Satisfactory CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information).
  • Knowledge of common business and office practices, procedures, and etiquette.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft operating system and common productivity products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Nice To Haves

  • Highly preferred previous EMS experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive and effective communication services (by phone etc.)
  • Complete all paper and computer documentation per CMTS policy and practice.
  • Operate all and computerized dispatch programs.
  • Assist with Administrative tasks as directed by the Director of Operations and Vice President
  • Adhere to and value CMTS policies and procedures.
  • Clean and organize workspace as needed.
  • Janitorial activities at the company bases or offices, as needed or directed by supervisory staff.
  • Reports to assigned shifts punctually in a complete, clean uniform or professional attire.
  • Protect the privacy of all protected health information in accordance with CMTS policies, procedures, and practices as required by federal and state law, and in accordance with the general principles of professionalism as a healthcare provider.
  • Maintain positive and effective communication (written and spoken) while interfacing with fellow employees, patients, referring hospitals and facilities and their staff members, and the community at large.
