About The Position

The Dispatch Officer is responsible for technical and shift operations. It maintains direct responsibility for overseeing the daily inspection of security cameras, alarms, communication systems, and recording devices for the Museum. This position is responsible for acting in a supervisory role in the absence of the Supervisor and Lead Officer.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of security or law enforcement experience, preferably in a cultural, educational, or large public institution.
  • Ability to remain calm and take decisive action in high-pressure or rapidly escalating situations.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, including Gmail, Google Calendar, and security monitoring software.
  • Flexibility to work variable shifts and provide staffing support as needed.
  • Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods, respond quickly to emergencies, climb ladders, and lift or move 20+ pounds.
  • Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED, and Stop the Bleed (or ability to obtain within six months of hire).

Responsibilities

  • Take the lead in emergencies if the Lead Officer is unavailable.
  • Respond promptly to alarms and requests for assistance, determining and executing appropriate courses of action.
  • Administer First Aid, CPR, AED, or Stop the Bleed during medical emergencies.
  • Perform daily inspections of security console equipment; identify and resolve issues.
  • Review and respond to all system alarms and reports, documenting and escalating concerns as needed.
  • Print, review, and file alarm reports as required.
  • Investigate and report exceptions or suspicious activities observed through monitoring systems.
  • Complete accurate incident reports and shift-related documentation.
  • Conduct post-inspections and complete required follow-up paperwork.
  • Assist in the on-the-job training and orientation of new security officers.
  • Communicate with the shift Lead Officer regarding concerns related to staff, volunteers, or visitors.
  • Provide supervisory coverage in the absence of the Supervisor or Lead officer.
  • Support staffing needs on other shifts when requested by management.
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned by the Lead officer.
  • Adhere to all museum policies, procedures, and security protocols.
  • Maintain communication with supervisors for advisement on disciplinary or personnel issues.
  • Provide operational assistance to supervisors as needed.
